Dominic R. Hunn, better known by his stage name Dom Kennedy, is a self-made, independent rap artist who has uniquely created his own wave of rap in Los Angeles since 2008. Hailing from Leimert Park, Ca, Kennedy released, under his own independent label The OPM Company, several independent EP’s and mixtapes, and was able to crack the game with his classic album “From the Westside with Love II”. Since then, Dom continued dropping timeless hits like “Still Callin” feat. TeeFlii, “Watermelon Sundae”, “South Central Love”, “Lemonade”, “My Type of Party”, and the list goes on. Such tracks, alongside collabs with other LA heavy-hitters such as Casey Veggies, Ty Dolla Sign, OPM’s own Niko G4 and Mani Coolin, IE’s super-producer HitBoy, and the late great Nipsey Hussle, Dom Kennedy displays how his track selection, smooth and laidback delivery with his bars, vivid storytelling, relatable advice amongst countless other flexes, easily separated him from the rest and stamped his solid position as one of the rarest and most influential artists of this generation.
Kennedy’s latest release, Rap and Roll, is yet another body of work that demonstrates the rapper’s unapologetic authenticity. Such tracks like “Love is Gangster”, “Tym” “Dark Shades” feat. Niko G4, as well as his ode to dear friend Nipsey Hussle on “Saint Ermias”, He gives us an exclusive look into his world and lifestyle, as he also holds a space for his listeners to soak up some game in a way that only his lessons and experiences permit him to deliver to us. Rap and Roll is out now on all platforms. Stream it everywhere, get the vibe right and just press play!
