Airplane James’ latest album Lowkey Hurt is the breath of fresh air that LA music fans didn’t even know they needed. This phenomenal project is a smooth and easy listen that is packed with every necessary component that would consider the body of work as a ”classic“ and even ”timeless”. He transforms those feelings of being Lowkey Hurt into a groovy and lighthearted banger that opens a window of transparency, influencing the city to remain confident and true through the pain.
It’s safe to say that Airplane James has been and remains to be a true LA favorite. He has previously displayed his capacity to connect with his listeners in a unique way. This particular project has just eight songs, however, he has skillfully made each individual track feel pretty full and in-depth. He sets the tone for his short story and reveals each track in a methodical way that makes Lowkey Hurt an effortless listen that allows us to just press play and even keep on repeat. Intro “Silly Me”, has a familiar sample that gets the listener into a feel-good groove early. Whereas “Nunu”, is a real fan favorite that can easily be deemed the fly-girl anthem of the summer. Airplane James even includes a harmonious interlude called “Thought we was Homies”, that brings a dramatic peak to the vivid story he tells throughout this project. Ultimately closing the album with a heartfelt voicemail from his mother on “55 Degrees in L A” that makes him and his story that much more likable. We trust that everyone who tunes into this project will thoroughly enjoy it as much as we did. Go stream Lowkey Hurt on all streaming platforms!
