Andy Cypress discovers flame in winter season with Ember2

Andy Cypress new project “Ember2” delivers a tracklist full of dynamic lyricism and unfiltered themes. Ember2 provides a sonically rich experience, leaving the listener disappointed once the album is finished – not because the music is off by any measure, but because its structured in a manner that keeps you on the edge wanting more. Listening to each track on the album start to finish till the project ends enhances the auditory journey, which could go in any direction.

Cypress raps in a similar frequency and octave of Mac Miller if he was raised in The Dungeon in Atlanta. Listening, what I found was a unique style with elements of great artists I’ve heard before, unveiled through Cypress’s own trials and tribulations. He raps about losing things closest to him, and having that remold him into what he is today. All while managing to stay in his own lane, rapping feelings most of us share but sometimes have a difficult time tapping into and channeling properly. He’s an artist that demonstrates control of his own universe, even when life happens unexpectedly.

Ember2 is a cohesive work of art. With a track length of 14 songs, there is no song on the project that throws you off of the groove that is captured from beginning to finish. Track 1, titled Highwater, enters melodically to tune you into a “rapper’s” rapper – able to seamlessly connect wavy rhymes for extended periods of time. Breath control ensures good delivery and built the careers of legends like Lil’ Wayne and Eminem. Cypress shows a mastery of this skill, adding to the depth of his lyrics.
